Sometimes when you look for the hidden gem, you find a squishy turd. The signature bone marrow app was unavailable our evening and skewed my appreciation of the establishment. The remaining appetizers, especially the baked clams were above average; the bacon slab was satisfying. Fuck you wedge-haters - it was decent. The wine list was exceptionally short which is either a sign of a wine buyer that is so fantastic, you must trust them implicitly, or that wine is merely an after-thought and an inappropriate selection is a result of your darts not sticking to the dartboard. I didn't speak with a sommelier, just a waiter with a Russian accent, so I'll guess the latter. The porterhouse for 3 and the bone-in ribeye were selected. The choice to go with both medium and medium rare for each cut wasn't as fruitful as my experience at BMC or Lugers where I felt the medium was a surprising victor. Neither version in this case was a standout. Not bad, but forgettable (and under-seasoned). The desserts were okay. The service was good; attentive but of mediocre quality. Angus Club seems to be a good selection for out-of-towners, and the midtown work crowd not interested in an over-hyped, over-priced place. Should have gone with Quality Meats... no pain, no gain.
