Hussar Grill is so good, we’ve returned for a second visit on our annual culinary calendar.
Why? Is it the top-quality aged beef prepared by their skilled grillers? Or is it the “we never charge corkage” maxim? Maybe it’s the friendly well-trained staff. It’s all of the above. The famous steakhouse is the benchmark for local grill houses. It has consistently serves great steak, with fresh crispy fries on the side. Usually we get to snack on some olives and fried potato crisps to snack on before the meal. But tonight Mike (our waiter) served us some homemade sliced biltong. Tick. Our table order included the usual fillets, a Fillet Moutarde (topped with a sauce of double cream and blended mustards), and I opted for the prime rib special. General consensus around the table was that their steaks were excellent; tender and well grilled. Tick. Mike clearly has a large student load to pay off; so plied us with some delicious vodka moussey shots. Tick. Even the friendly doorman hand serves you mints on your way out. Yet another classic. We’ll be back… Overall: 7.6 (average of scores) Steak: 7.3 Sides: 6.7 Service: 8.7 Value: 8.0
