The evening at American Cut was a fantastic way to kick of the Spring in NYC and the night was anchored by a SteakBoyz member’s birthday and a packed house of 17 guests for the private room.
The ambiance at the new location certainly hits all the marks. Great bar scene for cocktails within the deco-spired décor of the restaurant. The signature starter dishes did not disappoint as Mark Forgione’s chili lobster atop the well-prepared seafood towers were as outstanding as the previous visit to the downtown venue. The beacon also added a non-traditional element as it was paired with a special MF steak sauce and black onion. The dry-aged potato dish was a knockout and the mandatory cream of spinach was spot on. Moving to the beef…the steaks were a little off the mark on this evening. The selection was superb, and the crust was exquisite however the marbling on the strip side of the porterhouse was lacking and the dry-aged flavour from the tomahawk steak was a little absent. The service was on point with the show stopper being a table-side flambé. Another great evening at American Cut for sure. Do not think the evening will hit the high mark for our 2018 locations but certainly a high recommendation for a return visit to the sophisticated and swanky location.
