London Steak Boyz meeting No.8 took place in June 2017 at the aptly named Beast Restaurant in Marylebone, London.
On approaching the elegant floor to ceiling glass front, the boys were filled with expectation that another treat was installed for us. The low lit lighting with hundreds of candles throughout set the perfect ambience for an after work get together of close friends. The pièce de résistance was the large meat fridges with beautifully matured beef of various kinds dangling on large steel hooks, displayed alongside tanks of 2kg plus lobsters and Alaskan King Crabs. FOOD The menu was split between various meat cuts and size all selected from a meat board which included Rib-eye, Porterhouse, Sirloin, Chateaubriand, Simmental from US, Finland and Spain as well as shellfish from Maine and Norway, For starters, the boyz skipped the options available on the menu and instead split a 2kg Alaskan King Crab and needless to say the scores don’t lie with the flavour and quality of this curious ocean bottom feeder. The steaks arrived there were all exceptional, except for one. The bone-in rib-eye exceeding expectations and the Irish strip steak leaving a lot to be desired as leftover looked stringy and to charred in places. The sides were tasty sides and included mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, creamed spinach and various sources arriving at the table separately. SERVICE Service was patchy at times with some people scoring it highly while others providing a dismal score. VERDICT Excellent for some and poor value for others, the Beast divided opinion, but one thing is certain if you want a place that service quality meat and seafood, then you have come to the right place.
