London Steak Boyz No. 10 took place in November at Gauchos in Richmond. As the last Steakboyz before the 2017 winner announcement, the host decided to go with Gaucho in Richmond in order to change things up with a fresh out of London centre venue on the river Thames. Not a bad shout, except the weather prevented us from sitting outside.
With the boyz eager to get stuck in, the group met for pre-drinks at a local pub where things quickly escalated as half price cocktails added fuel to the fire. After lubricating the stomachs with some cheap cocktails we set off for some meat. FOOD The Gaucho menu of purely Argentinian cuts was mouth-watering, given the status of Argentine cuts being fattier, which enhances the flavours. Along with the specialty sauces, the boys were getting pretty excited about things to come. Before I highlight the starters, a special mention has to go to the cheese breads which are dished out at the table, along with some dips. This quickly subdued a sauced up bunch of boyz as we placed the starter orders. Rib-eyes were ordered across the board with temperature as medium rare. Sides and side sauces were a plenty as the group of 6 attempted to eat the equivalent of a table of 10. Goodman again reminded us why it was selected 2017 winner. SERVICE The service at Gauchos was good with the waiter pulling out all the stops to keep the drinks and food flowing, while take some abuse along the ways, whether it was called for or not. She perceived and deserved a medal for bravery under fire. VERDICT Great setting, good meat and service, but on this day, opinion and scores were divided, which was costly to the overall score. We will never know if it was the alcohol talking, but I for one would definitely go back.
