London Steak Boyz meeting No.9 took place in August 2017 at the long standing Zelman Meats an established Meat in Soho. Zelman prides itself in a changing menu depending on available cuts and the mood of their chefs so check before you arrive to make sure your preferred cuts are available. Please be warned dishes are shared.
The interior especially when compared to the previous two locations (Beast and Smith and Wollensky) was pretty standard, almost sub-par, but this in no way detracted from the excitement of another evening with mates.. FOOD The menu was very light with a select number of starters and a focus on a small number of specialty cuts from a Dirty Sirloin, Slice Picanha and Chateaubriand. For starters, the boyz polished off 2 of each of the starter items including the Burrata, Tiger Prawn Tempuras and Tuna tartare, which were good, but none of which stood out as memorable. The fact that all the food options were shared platters were a point of great debate throughout the evening with the traditionalists wanting their own chunk of meat with one or two others feeling that sharing is caring. Overall the fact it was shared had a significant impact on the overall score. SERVICE Service was disappointing starting with the table we were given being in the back corner away from the buzz of the restaurant, but waiters changing hands on 2 separate occasions leading to confusion on the orders placed a further dent in the overall score. VERDICT One to be avoided, unless you looking for good value meal and you don’t mind sharing your meat.
