Finding a new steak restaurant that does not have a website, a Facebook page and minimal advertising is quite lucky.   In fact, if I had not gone to the former Wang Thai to order a Pad Thai, I would never have known it was there…nor does most of Constantia it seems.

It’s no surprise then that the restaurant does not have a buzz with waiters flying around, bottles of wine being opened and a general din of a busy restaurant.  Rather it is quiet, intimate but oozes with potential. The interiors are fantastic and very fitting for a steak restaurant as it is nestled below street level in the in the heart of Constantia. The stage is certainly set for a great Constantia restaurant that can rival the best.

Starters
Full credit to Wendy for putting together a fantastic menu. A very interesting and unique assortment of delicious starters are on offer and the Chapatti is highly recommended.

Mains
An assortment of various cuts really brings Wendy’s long heritage in the Steak business to the fore.   Wendy knows her meat, there is no doubt about it, and this unique offering of various cuts is what separates Beau Constantia from its rivals in the area.   The menu includes options of A-Grade, Namibian or Angus and Wagyu when available. Something you don’t see very often.

Desserts
There are some very interesting looking deserts on offer but what I can highly recommend is a good ol fashioned Dom Pedro to help  finish off the meal.

Service
If friendliness and willingness were the only factors to consider then these guys would be absolute heroes. I do feel that there is a little more training required where the waiters need to be trained to explain the various cuts to patrons in a way that would make it a difficult choice. This will come with time and more experience I am sure.

Verdict
The ultimate test is to ask yourself would you go back, the answer is a most definite yes.  I look forward to seeing this restaurant grow over time and mature into an institution that is with us for many years.  Bottom line, get marketing Wendy, you have great potential!
