Carne
There is only one place to visit for the best steak in Cape Town. The original restaurant in Keerom Street was followed by a smaller bistro version in Kloof Street, and Chef-proprietor Giorgio Nava recently extended his successful formula to Constantia. Carne’s restaurants are all world class - only the finest ingredients and meat (reared on Giorgio’s own farm in the Karoo) are used. 

Must-haves are the 1.2kg La Fiorentina and hanger steak, but Carne offers a superb menu and stylish décor, and you’re guaranteed to have a memorable dining experience.

Hussar Grill
Loved by locals, the famous steakhouse is the benchmark for local grill houses that consistently serves great steak. Only top-quality aged beef is used, and prepared by their skilled grillers. Throw in their “we never charge corkage” policy, and you have a winning formula.

Buzbey Grill
One of the city’s oldest restaurants, Buzbey Grill is a landmark of Sea Point. A testimony to its success is the loyal regular clientele, who come to enjoy some of the best food in Cape Town.  You either love or hate the art deco interior, but look past that and you have a well-run, hands-on restaurant that offers consistently good service – and great steak.

Theos
The beachfront restaurant founded 26 years ago offers beautiful sea views. Their menu has a broad selection of meat, seafood and salads to please any palate - but it is the red meat aged up to three weeks that keeps Theo’s going for over a quarter of a century. Theo’s also boasts butchery on the premises where the finest cuts of aged meat are available to take home.

NV-80
NV-80 is the new restaurant of Gonçalves brothers, Naldo and Victor - of the highly successful, long-standing fine dining restaurant Pigalle. The restaurant features high ceilings and sophisticated, yet understated interior design. The staff is friendly and attentive; and they serve some of the best (Chalmar) steaks we have ever tasted.
