Some of us had been to Carne before, but this was our first visit for an official Steak Night. Needless to say expectations were high; we are after all the original Tough Crowd ™...
The dining area is down a floating staircase to an intimate yet trendy basement room. It is a small space and - for a change – no music. But surprisingly it creates a really authentic atmosphere.
The place mats serves as the menu; but look no further than your waiter to guide you in what to order (any vegans still reading; look away now). He brings a wooden board to the table, tastefully arranged with the variety of cuts, and he explains their unique flavours, and how best to grill.
I opted for the hanger steak, a more unusual steak but one filled with unique flavours. It was grilled to perfection (medium-rare). The T-bone for two was a popular choice again, and everyone gave their steaks rave reviews. The service was slick and professional.
